Satyapirer Panchali is a work of the Middle Age pir literature that celebrates the deeds of satya
pir. In the Middle Age, poets composed such poems under different titles, such as, Satyapirer Panchali, Satyapirer Katha, satyanarayaner Panchali etc. Noted of such poets are kavi kanka, sheikh faizullah, Rameswar Bhattacharya, Ramananda, shah garibullah, bharatchandra etc.
Since islam was introduced in Bengal, people's belief in popular deities and reverence for the newly arrived preachers and guides of Islam gave rise to many popular pirs, graced with divine power, like Panchpir, Satyapir, Manikpir and others. The earliest writer of Satyapirer Panchali, Kanka, was a contemporary of
Chaitanyadev and was his follower. His Satyapir is characterised by vaisnavism. Some puthis (manuscripts) of Satyapirer Panchali often birth accounts of Satyapir, but have minor variations in their narration. [Ali Nawaz]
