Daulatpur Upazila (manikganj district) with an area of 216.24 sq km, is bounded by chauhali and nagarpur upazilas on the north, shivalaya and ghior upazilas on the south, saturia upazila on the east, bera upazila and jamuna river on the west. Main rivers are Jamuna, dhaleshwari and ichamati. Main depression is Khalsi Beel.

Daulatpur (Town) consists of one mouza and three mahallas. It has an area of 4.13 sq km. The town has a population of 5325; male 51.19%, female 48.81%. Literacy rate among the town people is 32.8%. It has one dakbungalow.

Administration Daulatpur thana was established in 1919 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 8 union parishads, 172 mouzas and 201 villages.

Historical events The earlier name of Daulatpur was Govardhanpur, a name which is said to have been originated from an image of Hindu deity designated as Govardhan. In course of time the temple including the image was a victim to river erosion. During the Mughal rule a sufi saint named Daulat Shah came to Govardhanpur, established his khankah and had large number of disciples in the area. Daulatpur is said to have been named after the saint.
