Chittagong Division with an area of 33771.13 sq km, is bounded by dhaka and sylhet divisions and Tripura state of India on the north, bay of bengal and Arakan (Myanmar) on the south, Mizoram, Tripura states of India and chin state of Myanmar on the east and Bay of Bengal, barisal and dhaka divisions on the west. Main rivers: meghna, matamuhuri, titas, dakatia, gumti, feni, karnafuli and sangu; islands: sandwip, hatiya, kutubdia, Maheshkhali and St. Martins. There are many big hills in Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban and in eastern part of Chittagong districts.

Chittagong (Town) consists of six thanas, 68 wards and 236 mahallas. It has an area of 209.66 sq km. The town has a population 3202000; male 54.37% and female 45.63%; population density per sq km 15272. The main seaport of Bangladesh is located at the estuary of the Karnafuli river. Chittagong is also called the commercial capital of Bangladesh.
