Atharobanki River  flows from khulna to gopalganj with a total of 18 bends. This is why it is called as the river with eighteen-bends (atharo bank). The bends of the river have remained unchanged for about two centuries. The river comes under tidal influence and is navigable throughout the year. It debouches into the bhairab at Rupsa upazila near the city of Khulna. [Md Mahbub Murshed]
